Learn how to repair damaged ceramics using the traditional methods and materials of the Japanese art of kintsugi. Repairs are made using urushi, the sap of the lacquer tree, as a glue. Once cured, the repair is finished with a fine layer of gold, silver or brass. The philosophy and practice of kintsugi offer a metaphor for life: embracing imperfection, healing wounds and turning adversity into something beautiful.

The workshop is suited to repair of minor damage to small items such as cups, bowls and side plates (ceramic or wood). Bring what you have!

Each workshop will run over two Saturday mornings, 6-8 weeks apart (allowing time for the Urushi to cure), and will include tea and Japanese sweets.  The fee is $340.
